Kwara Football Academy’s rock solid defender, Azeez Sodiq reflects on winning maiden Pro Route League Trophy
It was all joy and pure emotion for Sodiq Abdulazeez Enitan, a player of Kwara Football Academy (KFA), as he looked back on his team’s historic triumph in the inaugural Pro Route League (PRL).
For him, lifting the trophy wasn’t just about winning — it was about proving doubters wrong and turning dreams into reality. “A lot of people didn’t believe we could win it,” he said. “But we did, and that moment is one I’ll never forget.”
Operating at the back for KFA, Sodiq was a key part of a solid defensive unit that kept 6 clean sheets over the course of 13 matches.
His ability to read the game, maintain discipline, and contribute to both ends of the pitch earned him plenty of praise. He also chipped in offensively, registering 2 goals and 4 assists, making him a rare blend of reliability and versatility.
He described the league as one of the most defining and emotional experiences of his football career so far. “From the first game to the final whistle, the energy was different. It pushed us to grow as players and as a team,” he shared.
Now, with the new season fast approaching, Sodiq says he’s entering with greater belief, hunger, and gratitude. “I’m walking into this new chapter with hope and faith in Allah. I trust Him to guide me to a better path in my career.”
He also praised KFA’s unity, calling it a major factor behind their success. “What makes KFA special is our bond. We didn’t just play for ourselves — we played for each other. That made the difference.”
Looking beyond personal achievements, Sodiq emphasized the importance of the Pro Route League for young footballers. “The league gave us exposure, competition, and belief. It taught us not to give up — to keep pushing no matter what.”
To every aspiring footballer, he says: “Keep your head up. Keep working hard. Soon, God will answer all our prayers.”
He concluded by thanking his supporters: “I’m grateful for the love. May Allah guide all of us as we chase our dreams.”
